otrapa
otrapa, otrapya ( nt. ?; cf. an-otrapa, apatrāpya , Pali ottappa; the short vowel in the penult is doubtless of MIndic character, and the single p, when it occurs, doubtless m.c. , as in an-otrapa ), modesty, shame, decency : Mv ii.357.14 , mss. hirī-otrasya ( v.l. -otasya)-saṃpanno; Senart °ottappa°, but read rather °otrapya°; LV 329.13 lajji (read as separate word) hirotrapāt tu, Lefm. , but most and best mss. end in -patta for -pāt tu, and this may be the orig. form ( abl. , see § 8.56 ).
